Movimento vivo, piano trio by Zdenek Merta (*1951) received its world premiere on March 28 in the Church of Sts. Simon and Jude in Prague. it was performed by Trio Martinů at a chamber concert organized by the Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK.
Merta started working on the piece already in early 80s, but, due to his at that time still rather unstable position as a classic music composer, it remained unfinished and forgotten in a drawer. It was not until now that it was revised and played for the first time, on the initative of none other than Trio’s members Pavel Šafařík (violin), Jaroslav Matějka (cello) and Petr Jiříkovský (piano). The evening’s program also included the Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor by a Russian romantic composer Anton Arensky and Piano Trio No. 2 E-flat major by Franz Schubert.
